●What is “ILCA Blue Ribbon” Campaign?
In Canada, they have a campaign called “Blue Ribbon Campaign” which is for the prevention of Second Hand Smoke. We contacted to "Health Canada", and we adopted the campaign to Japan as “ILCA Blue Ribbon Campaign.
●How did Blue Ribbon Campaign started?
The blue ribbon campaign was started by the students at Hugh Boyd Secondary School in 1999 and has been national in Canada.
●Why do we adopt Blue Ribbon Campaign from Canada to Japan?
We thought that we had better take part in the movement held in the advanced Tobacco control nations such as Canada, rather than have a unique measure accepted only in Japan in order to close the international standardized Tobacco control.
●How do they appeal Blue Ribbon Campaign at the international stage?
In summer 2003, "the 12th World Conference on Tobacco or Health" was held in Helsinki. Then they distributed the Blue Ribbon pins which are symbol for their campaign in order to introduse their actions at booth of Health Canada.
●Why does the name of Japanese Blue Ribbon Campaign have the word “ILCA”?
Our Blue Ribbon is called "ILCA Blue Ribbon." "ILCA" symbolizes "I Love Clean Air." We also attached the letters "ILCA" to the design of our blue ribbon pins, in order to distinguish ours from other blue ribbons in a look. Because, in Japan, we have other blue ribbons.
